The Museum of Fine Arts Boston has opened ‘Naoko Matsubara’s Woodblock Worlds’, an exhibition devoted to the artist’s seven-decade woodblock practice. On view through 16 May 2027, the exhibition takes specific locations that transformed Matsubara’s work as its organizing frame.
That geographic focus offers the exhibition’s central point of entry into Matsubara’s career. Rather than treating her practice as a sequence of dates alone, the presentation connects its development to the places that have been transformative for her work. The exhibition celebrates a career now in its seventh decade while keeping those locations at the centre of its account.
‘Naoko Matsubara’s Woodblock Worlds’ is presented in the Clementine Brown Gallery (Gallery 170) at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston in Boston. It opened on 5 September 2026 and remains on view until 16 May 2027.
