Doyle will auction ‘Picasso Ceramics’ on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, at 11am, as a special section of its ‘Prints & Multiples’ sale.
The Balmuths’ collecting journey began with a gift in 1983: a pitcher purchased at the Madoura workshop in the late 1950s by a family member. A few years later, Glenn and Gayle Balmuth began building their own collection. They shared a passion for Picasso ceramics that continued for decades.
Picasso developed an enduring passion for ceramics, producing more than 3,000 objects.
The 20 October ‘Prints & Multiples’ sale will offer examples dating from the 17th century to the present day. Its categories include Old Master prints, Modern European prints, American prints and works by contemporary artists.
The exhibition will be open at Doyle New York from noon to 5pm on Saturday, 17 October; Sunday, 18 October; and Monday, 19 October. Cynthia Klein is the sale specialist for ‘Prints & Multiples’.
