The Irish Museum of Modern Art will host ‘Art in Motion: Routes and Roots Community Celebration’ on Thursday 24 September, as part of the city-wide Dublin by Dusk initiative.
Taking place from 7 to 8.30pm at Main Reception, the free event will feature original poetry readings by The Poetry Vigilantes, a community writers’ group within Dublin 8’s Fatima Groups United. Poet, playwright and performer Dagogo Hart will act as compère. Booking is required.
The event celebrates ‘Art in Motion: Routes and Roots’, a mobile artwork created by Alberta Whittle and developed with Hart and The Poetry Vigilantes. The work wraps a TFI bus and incorporates fragments of original poetry made by The Poetry Vigilantes with Whittle and Hart, alongside imagery including participants’ hands and yarrow.
Developed through poetry workshops, the project responds to themes explored in ‘Fisherwoman, Fisherwoman’, which brought together the work of Whittle and Camille Souter. ‘Art in Motion’ was launched in June 2026 by IMMA in partnership with the National Transport Authority under its Transport for Ireland brand.
Refreshments will be served during the 24 September celebration.
