‘In Community’, a group exhibition by the Joined Hands Artists Collective, will be on view at the Carolyn and Howard Alber Gallery at Allens Lane Art Center from 5 September to 10 October 2026.
The exhibition features eleven members of the collective: Asake Jones, Elena Aldrete, Elke Muller, Gail Loyd, Gloria Davis, Jesse White, Lynda Grace, Maura Williams, Rebecca Hoenig, Rosalind Dutton and Ruth A. Seeley. Their work spans watercolor, fiber, collage, mixed media, ceramics and photography.
The exhibition considers how community shapes lives and relationships among people, animals and the natural world. It explores intersections among individuals, families, ecosystems and shared environments, and the forms of connection these interactions can create.
Joined Hands Artists Collective began as an effort to bring together artists from different backgrounds. Its eleven members meet as colleagues and as a family of artists who challenge, encourage and learn from one another.
An artists’ reception and talk is scheduled for Friday, 18 September, from 6 to 8 pm.
