Entries for the 2026 Len Fox Painting Award close on 13 September. Presented by Castlemaine Art Museum, the biennial acquisitive prize carries a $50,000 cash award and is open to painters across Australia.
The award is made to a living Australian artist and commemorates the life and work of Emanuel Phillips Fox (1865–1915). Funded through a bequest from Mona Fox, the prize will be awarded to a painting judged to address E. P. Fox’s interests as an “imaginative, inquisitive, and worldly artist.” Any style or genre is eligible, and works may be made in any medium subject to practical limitations.
The winning work will enter the Museum’s Art Collection. Dr Rebecca Coates and Dr Angela Hesson are the 2026 judges.
The resulting exhibition will run at Castlemaine Art Museum in Castlemaine, Australia, from 11 December 2026 to 14 March 2027. The official opening and prize announcement are scheduled for 11 December, with the People’s Choice announcement to follow on 14 March 2027.
