‘Handmade Up North: Jewelry and Small Metals by Wisconsin Artists’ is on view at RAM Downtown in Racine through 4 October 2026. The exhibition presents art jewelry and small-scale metalwork by artists with Wisconsin ties.
The works draw on a range of styles and media, addressing life in the region through personal and cultural reflections. References include Wisconsin’s nature and wildlife, urban and rural landscapes, its role as an agricultural hub, and Midwestern community.
Alongside works from RAM’s permanent collection, the exhibition includes loaned beadwork and quillwork adornment by Anishinaabe artist Emily Minogiizhigookwe Nelis Locklear.
Participating artists include Michael Dale Bernard, TJae Chapman, Debra DeWolff, Robert J. Farrell, Donald Friedlich, Terri Gelenian-Wood, Annette Zolin Hirsh, Tina Fung Holder, Ken Loeber, Laura Marth, Eleanor H. Moty, Frank J. Parkel, JoAnna Poehlmann, Linda Threadgill, Mary Tingley and J. Fred Woell. Selected works include Ken Loeber’s ‘Untitled (Fish Brooch)’, Michael Dale Bernard’s ‘Hoist (Brooch)’ from the ‘Ornate Perspective Series’, and J. Fred Woell’s ‘America Dines Out (Pin)’.
