Jutta Koether will present ‘Charm’, a solo exhibition at Villa Flora, Kunst Museum Winterthur, opening in September 2026. The exhibition will examine the artist’s engagement with early French modernism, placing her work in dialogue with the art that Swiss collectors Hedy and Arthur Hahnloser acquired after the turn of the 20th century and that is now shown at Villa Flora.
The exhibition will open to the public on 12 September 2026 and continue through 17 January 2027. Its vernissage is scheduled for 11 September from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Kunst Museum Winterthur’s Villa Flora, at Tösstalstrasse 44 in Winterthur. Tanja Scartazzini, head of the City of Winterthur’s cultural affairs office, will give the welcome, followed by an introduction from Konrad Bitterli, director of Kunst Museum Winterthur.
According to the museum, Koether’s project addresses the early French modernist art collected by the Hahnlosers after the turn of the century. That collection forms a central part of Villa Flora’s presentation, making the exhibition a direct encounter between a contemporary artistic position and the historical holdings displayed at the site.
Hedy and Arthur Hahnloser are identified by the museum as the collectors responsible for assembling the works of early French modernism now exhibited at Villa Flora. The exhibition information does not specify individual historical artists or works that will be paired with Koether’s presentation, nor does it describe the new works included in ‘Charm’.
Villa Flora is one of the locations operated by Kunst Museum Winterthur. The museum’s September programme lists the Villa Flora alongside its sites Beim Stadthaus and Reinhart am Stadtgarten, with exhibitions and collections distributed across the three venues. A museum catalogue describes the institution as bringing together the houses and collections of the Kunstverein Winterthur, the Oskar Reinhart Foundation and the Hahnloser/Jäggli Foundation, spanning works from the Baroque period to contemporary art.
During the exhibition’s run, the museum has listed a public tour of ‘Jutta Koether. Charm’ for 23 September 2026 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., as well as a director’s tour with Konrad Bitterli on 30 September at the same time. Villa Flora is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Wednesdays until 8 p.m. ‘Charm’ remains on view until 17 January 2027.
