Kunstmuseum Thun has opened ‘Schnittstellen der Sicht. Hans Gerber und Sabine Hertig’, an exhibition bringing together works by Hans Gerber and Sabine Hertig. The exhibition opened on 21 August 2026 with what the museum described as a well-attended vernissage. A September newsletter from the Swiss institution highlights a substantial presentation of collages and invites visitors to engage with the exhibition through a dedicated, hands-on workshop space.
The show is installed at Kunstmuseum Thun, housed in the Thunerhof at Hofstettenstrasse 14 in Thun. The museum operates alongside the Thun-Panorama, a separate institution at Schadaupark; both are presented through a shared website and programme. The exhibition announcement itself concerns the Kunstmuseum Thun presentation, while the newsletter separately lists activities at the Thun-Panorama.
The museum’s description foregrounds collage as a central element of the exhibition. It refers to an “impressive collection of collages” and says that the works have prompted visitors to describe the show in the museum guestbook as “super,” “great,” “impressive, attractive, repulsive, inspiring” and “unforgettable.” Those reactions are presented as visitor comments rather than as a formal critical assessment of the exhibition.
The available material provides more specific information about Hertig’s practice than about Gerber’s work. A documentary screening connected with the exhibition describes Hertig as developing her work between pencil and watercolour drawing, painting and collage. The film’s presentation characterises collage, for Hertig, as a way of relating parts and wholes across different media, and as a form of questioning the whole from the viewpoint of a fragment. The exhibition materials do not provide further biographical information about either artist.
A ‘Collage Workshop’ is positioned within the exhibition as an art-education area where visitors can work with glue and scissors themselves. The museum describes it as a mediation island located in the middle of the exhibition. A workshop on 6 September 2026, organised with ‘Museum feat. Jugend’, is scheduled for children and adults and includes admission. The museum’s agenda also lists a further collage workshop for 10 October, a discussion with Sabine Hertig and Dirk Koy on 14 October, and a tour with contemporary witnesses of Hans Gerber on 18 October.
The programme also includes ‘The Space of Fragments’, a 50-minute documentary by Angelo Alfredo Lüdin, screened at Kino Rex in Thun on 3 September 2026 at 6:30 p.m. The film follows Hertig as she develops her work across drawing, painting and collage, and is followed by a question-and-answer session with Hertig and Lüdin. Kino Rex lists the screening as taking place in cooperation with Kunstmuseum Thun. The museum’s published exhibition notice gives no closing date for ‘Schnittstellen der Sicht’.
