Two Rivers Gallery in Prince George is opening 'Paradise Lost', an exhibition featuring works by Jazz Keillor and Laura St. Pierre, with a reception on Thursday, July 23 at 7:30 pm. According to the gallery, the evening will include artist talks, a question-and-answer session, light refreshments, and an opportunity for visitors to connect through art and conversation. The reception is free and open to all ages.
The exhibition itself is listed on the gallery’s site for July 24 to October 11, 2026. Two Rivers Gallery describes the project as one that challenges the idea that humans are the central agents of meaning, knowledge and control, instead considering broader forms of agency across nature, other species, technologies and objects. The gallery says the work reflects on ecological crisis, hybridity and shifting boundaries between human and nonhuman life.
Keillor’s contribution includes paintings that present landscapes from a distant, bird’s-eye perspective, with trees taking on a central role. The gallery’s exhibition text says her work examines contemporary relationships to land and addresses notions of wilderness and constructed landscapes. Her artist statement, included on the exhibition page, describes a post-apocalyptic lens and a view of landscape in which human figures are absent, but human systems remain visible through their effects.
St. Pierre, who works primarily in photo, video and installation from an ecological perspective, presents staged photographs and video works. The gallery says her installations and photographs imagine post-apocalyptic ecosystems and uncertain futures shaped by environmental collapse. Her artist statement on the exhibition page centers on a fictional character known as the Sower/la Semeuse, who inhabits industrial and public settings and tends small gardens as a gesture of care and resistance.
The exhibition is also tied to a hands-on workshop on July 24 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. That program begins with a guided tour of the Knowledge Garden led by Carlos Yu, then moves into the exhibition space, where Keillor and St. Pierre are scheduled to share the stories, ideas and creative processes behind their artworks. Participants will then make cyanotype prints using twigs, leaves, petals and other natural materials.
Two Rivers Gallery is using the opening and the workshop as part of a broader summer programming push. The gallery’s July 22 email also points to a TRG Back in Action Weekend on July 25, marking the reopening of its space with neighbours Tourism Prince George and the Prince George Conference & Civic Centre. That day is set to include artists-in-residence, live music, hands-on art activities, community partners and more, following the exhibition opening and the workshop.
