Art Images Gallery will present a new selection of works by South Australian glass artist Brenden Scott French from 4 September to 4 October 2026, marking the artist’s first exhibition with the Norwood gallery. The presentation will open on Friday 4 September from 6–8pm.
French’s works combine kiln-formed and blown glass, bringing together rich opaque colour, layered surfaces and precise geometric forms. According to the gallery, the selection draws on memory and the Australian landscape, using the physical properties of glass to explore the relationship between colour, material and form.
The exhibition offers an introduction to French’s practice rather than presenting a named thematic series. Its focus is on the formal qualities of his glassmaking: the density and intensity of opaque colour, the visual depth created through layering, and the controlled structures produced by geometric composition. The combination of kiln-formed and blown techniques also places distinct approaches to shaping glass within the same presentation.
French is based at JamFactory Seppeltsfield, the South Australian arts and design centre located in the Barossa Valley. The gallery identifies him as a South Australian artist and describes his work as part of contemporary glass practice. No further information about individual works, dimensions or titles has been released in the exhibition announcement.
Art Images Gallery, in Norwood, South Australia, presents exhibitions and sells work across painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, ceramics, jewellery and related objects. Its exhibition programme includes solo and group presentations by artists working across those media. French’s display will be shown alongside other exhibitions opening at the gallery on the same evening, but the glass presentation is a separate exhibition devoted to his work.
The exhibition follows a programme announcement that also lists presentations by Sarah McDonald, Amanda Westley and Donna Gordge. Those exhibitions are separate from French’s gallery debut. McDonald’s 'High Country', Westley’s 'Nganawi Ruwi (My Country)' and Gordge’s presentation of sculptural woven works are each scheduled for the same 4 September–4 October period. A separate artist talk for McDonald is scheduled for 19 September and is not part of French’s exhibition details.
French’s exhibition will remain on view at Art Images Gallery in Norwood through Sunday 4 October 2026.
