Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka has announced its exhibition programme for the 2027 fiscal year. The museum's own news post of 4 August 2026 and the accompanying press release list seven exhibitions running from January 2027 to April 2028, and the museum notes that further exhibitions will be announced as they are confirmed.
The programme opens with '100 Years of Women Who Create' (つくる女性の100年), 9 January to 22 March 2027, which follows roughly a century of work by women artists, from those who opened up the field to artists working today, with attention to changes in education, means of expression and ways of living.
'Tate: Turner — Paintings of the Sublime, a Dialogue with Contemporary Art' (テート美術館 ターナー展——崇高の絵画、現代美術との対話) follows from 13 March to 27 June 2027, setting J.M.W. Turner's painting of the sublime alongside contemporary art.
Marking five years since the museum opened, 'Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka All-Stars: We Wanted to See Them All Together!' (開館5周年記念特別展 大阪中之島美術館オールスターズ☆それをまとめて見たかったです！) runs 10 April to 19 July 2027.
'Fumio Yamana: 130th Anniversary of His Birth' (生誕130年 山名文夫 つかまえてはなさないデザイン) is scheduled for 15 July to 26 September 2027.
Three further exhibitions complete the programme: 'Kaii Higashiyama: 120th Anniversary of His Birth' (生誕120年 東山魁夷展), 9 October to 12 December 2027; 'Wiener Werkstätte' (ウィーン工房), 9 October 2027 to 10 January 2028; and 'Yumeji Takehisa: An Expressive Force of His Age' (竹久夢二 時代を創る表現者), 29 January to 9 April 2028.
Dates and outlines for each exhibition are given in the museum's press release; artist lists and further details for individual shows have not yet been published.
