Millennium Gallery in Sheffield will present 'New Editions: Contemporary Printmaking' from Saturday 12 September to Thursday 24 December 2026. The exhibition is curated by the printmakers James Green and Ed Bradbury, who works as Kid Acne, and brings together work by leading printmakers from across the UK, including a number of regional artists.
Sheffield Museums' exhibition page describes the show as featuring around 60 printmakers, while its page for the opening event refers to more than 70; the published material does not resolve the difference. Both frame the project as a broad survey of current printmaking rather than a presentation built on a single technique or theme, and the trust describes the works in terms of the creative power of applying pigment to paper. Green and Bradbury bring "their distinct approaches to the medium" to the selection.
Works named among the highlights include James Green's 'Donkey Abstract No.6', Steph Renshaw's 'Lobster Orion', Stuart Brocklehurst's mezzotint 'Sylvan Cascade', Bronwen Sleigh's 'Ferry Road', Clare Phelan's 'Mechanomorphic', Helen Murgatroyd's 'Bude Metric Band', Emily Ketteringham's 'Untitled Pink' (2026) and Neil Woodall's 'Thornham Winter 2'.
The exhibition opens with a preview evening at Millennium Gallery on Friday 11 September, from 6pm to 8pm, with music, a pay bar and hands-on printmaking activities, the chance to meet some of the participating artists, prints available to buy and an original artwork for visitors to take home. No booking is needed and a donation of £5 is suggested.
Editions of all the works in the exhibition will be for sale in the gallery shop while stocks last. Entry is free, again with a suggested £5 donation. Millennium Gallery, on Arundel Gate, Sheffield S1 2PP, opens Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 11am to 4pm, and is closed on Mondays including bank holidays.
Millennium Gallery is operated by Sheffield Museums Trust, the charity responsible for six museums and heritage sites in the city: Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, Graves Gallery, Kelham Island Museum, Millennium Gallery, Shepherd Wheel Workshop and Weston Park Museum.
