«wohin – woher – womit» has been on view at the Kunst(Zeug)Haus in Rapperswil-Jona since 26 April 2026 and runs until 4 April 2027. The collection exhibition was developed with people from the town and the surrounding area, who selected works, contributed their own perspectives and helped shape the content of the education programme.
The exhibition asks how spaces for memory, art, identity and belonging come about, and starts from the question of when visitors last saw their own experiences or stories made visible in a museum. According to the Kunst(Zeug)Haus, the participants’ voices significantly shape the display, opening a space for exchange between artworks and viewers, between visitors, and between different experiences and realities; meaning, it says, emerges in dialogue.
Works are by ALMA, Vincenzo Baviera, Ueli Berger, Biefer/Zgraggen, Reto Boller, Lis Kocher, Luo Mingjun, Barbara Mühlefluh, Niklaus Rüegg, Verena Sieber-Fuchs, Roman Signer, Paul Stöckli, Studer/van den Berg, Hugo Suter and Martina Vontobel. The museum does not tie individual works to particular themes or participants.
The exhibition was made in cooperation with artefix kultur und schule, IntegrArte, Kunstfabrik Wetzikon, the Kurdish Cultural Association Rapperswil-Jona, Olena Shliundt and Helen Zimmermann. Those partnerships also run through the accompanying programme, which spans the full year and is aimed at adults, children and families.
That programme opened with Swiss Reading Day on 27 May 2026 and a summer festival on 27 June, both now past. Still to come are the Kulturnacht on 19 September, ‘Kunst zum Klingen bringen’ on 18 October, the children’s studio ‘Kunterbuntes Gestalten’ on 28 October, ‘Labor im Museum’ on 15 November and ‘Kunst & Mutige Frauen’ on 27 December, followed in 2027 by an afternoon for children and grandparents on 9 January, ‘Kunst(Z)Mittag mit Kopf, Herz und Hand’ on 12 February, Easter-egg decorating on 20 March and ‘Gemeinschaft als Rezept’ on 4 April, the closing day.
On Saturday 19 September the museum joins the nineteenth Kulturnacht Rapperswil-Jona, a free evening from 5 to 11 p.m. shared with venues including the *ALTE FABRIK, the Stadtbibliothek, the Stadtmuseum and the ZAK. Its own programme comprises an open studio with artefix kultur und schule from 5 to 8 p.m., a ‘Labor im Museum’ session with Kunstfabrik Wetzikon from 5.30 to 7 p.m., a guided tour of ‘wohin – woher – womit’ with Vale Bonafe of Kunstfabrik Wetzikon and Aina Vogt of the Kunst(Zeug)Haus from 6 to 6.30 p.m., the book launch of ‘Regula Syz. Raben unter uns’ by the IG Halle at 6.30 p.m., and a concert by the young Rapperswil singer-songwriter Aaron Asteria at 8.30 p.m.
The Kunst(Zeug)Haus is at Schönbodenstrasse 1 in Rapperswil-Jona, open Wednesday 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday 2 to 5 p.m. and Friday to Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free for everyone on the first Saturday of each month.
