Kunsthaus Zug will present ‘Chamber, Chamber’, an exhibition bringing together the work of Kyra Tabea Balderer and Raphael Egil in a dialogue spanning photography and painting, re-enactment and art-historical reference. The exhibition will run from 24 October 2026 to 7 February 2027 at Kunsthaus Zug in Zug, Switzerland, with an opening scheduled for 23 October at 4:30pm.
The exhibition’s title suggests a series of overlapping spaces and meanings: a chamber or cabinet, a pictorial room or stage, and a space of reflection and repetition. According to Kunsthaus Zug, the title also points to the interplay of intimacy and staging, as images are revisited, transformed and developed through their encounter with other works.
Balderer works across media, with photography as a central focus. Her practice is described by the institution as involving re-enactments and shifts between the familiar and the unfamiliar, using altered perspectives to reconsider known images and situations. The exhibition’s presentation identifies ‘GEMENGELAGE III’ (2025) and ‘WIRBELSÄULE’ (2024) among the works associated with her contribution.
Egil’s practice is represented through painting and an engagement with art-historical traditions. Kunsthaus Zug says that he tests the possibilities of the medium anew while drawing on established visual references. The exhibition page features his works ‘Mutter mit Kind’ (2025), ‘Baum’ (2025) and ‘Two Jockeys’ (2026), although the available announcement does not provide a complete checklist of works.
The two artists are connected, in the institution’s framing, by an interest in the variation of motifs, repetition and transformation, as well as by their use of art-historical references and contemporary image-making strategies. Their works will be placed in dialogue with the collection of Kunsthaus Zug, allowing the exhibition to develop what the institution calls a ‘chamber play’ of images. The presentation will address relationships between original and variation, silence and staging, and memory and the future.
‘Chamber, Chamber’ is curated by Jana Bruggmann. It follows the Kunsthaus Zug collection presentation ‘Träumende Dinge’, which is scheduled to remain on view through 27 September 2026 and includes artists such as Heidi Bucher, Miriam Cahn, Meret Oppenheim, Hannah Villiger, Ilse Weber and Eva Wipf. The institution’s education programme also lists school workshops and projects, but these are separate from the forthcoming exhibition.
Kunsthaus Zug is operated by the Zuger Kunstgesellschaft and is located at Dorfstrasse 27, 6301 Zug. Its published opening hours are Tuesday to Friday from noon to 6pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm; it is closed on Mondays. ‘Chamber, Chamber’ will be on view from 24 October 2026 through 7 February 2027.
