C Fine Art will present ‘Women of Depth: A Celebration of Women Artists Exploring Dimension Through Abstraction’ from August 22 through September 30, 2026, at C Fine Art + Advisory / Sculpture Sights in Shelter Island, New York. The exhibition brings together Caroline Ramersdorfer, Joan Hall, Jane Manus, Rebecca Hutchinson, Isobel Folb Sokolow, Mercedes Vicente, Libby Raab, Darlene Charneco and Elizabeth Gregory-Gruen for a presentation focused on depth, dimension and the expressive possibilities of materials.
An opening reception is scheduled for August 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 21 North Ferry Road. The exhibition’s stated focus is abstraction rather than narrative or representation, with the participating artists working through rhythm, texture, accumulation and spatial presence. The accompanying release describes material as an active collaborator in the creation of form and frames layering, repetition, excavation, construction and gesture as central processes.
The works listed by the gallery show a broad range of approaches to dimensional abstraction. Ramersdorfer is represented by ‘Inner View_depth unveiled’ (2026), made from Yule Colorado marble and steel, and ‘Inner View VII’ (2011), in marble and steel. Hall’s listed works include ‘No Name Key’ (2022), combining handmade paper, Dura-lar, acrylic and printed, hand-cut construction, as well as the 2026 pieces ‘Caught in the Current #3’ and ‘Caught in the Current #4’.
Paper and fiber-based works include Hutchinson’s ‘Orange Glory Blue Spot’, made from paper clay, handmade paper from recycled clothing and organic material, and Raab’s ‘Woven Wilderness’ and ‘Intertwined’, which use cold-press fine-art paper and paper raffia. Gregory-Gruen’s ‘White Circle - In’, ‘White Free Form - In’ and ‘All Over #2’ are constructed from hand-cut museum board and presented in white wood shadow boxes.
Sculptural works in the presentation include Manus’s ‘Red’ (2026), a painted welded-aluminum work; Sokolow’s unique welded-steel ‘Cat Walk’ and ‘Ghiberti’s Door’ (1992), made from welded found metal, automotive steel and gold leaf; and Vicente’s canvas works ‘Vortilina’ and ‘Veluma’. Charneco’s listed pieces, ‘A Small but Potent Kindness’ and ‘Like Interwoven Grasses’, use nails and mixed media on wood. The gallery’s online listing identifies prices for a number of the works, including $35,000 for ‘Inner View_depth unveiled’, $14,000 for ‘Caught in the Current #3’ and $12,000 for ‘Red’.
C Fine Art describes its programme as representing and exhibiting established international artists, with a focus on formal abstraction in contemporary dimensional art. It also offers art consultation and advisory services concerning indoor and outdoor sculpture and sculptural wall works, and states that it welcomes site-specific projects for residential, commercial and public environments. The Shelter Island exhibition will remain on view through September 30, 2026.
