61st - La Biennale di Venezia

Walid Raad is among the participants in the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, which runs at the Central Pavilion in the Giardini and at the Arsenale until 22 November 2026.

The installations are presented as attempts to create spaces in which humans could break with a binary understanding of life.

In an essay published by Il Giornale dell'Arte on 17 October 2026, Rory Tsapayi, the youngest member of the team that completed the 61st Venice Biennale Arte, offers a personal account of the year that followed the death of its artistic director, Koyo Kouoh.

The announcement also features words by Siddhartha Mitter, identified as part of Koyo Kouoh’s team, recalling the curator and her vision.

The 70th International Festival of Contemporary Music of La Biennale di Venezia, ‘A Child of Sound’, is running in Venice from 10 to 24 October 2026 under the direction of the Berlin-based Italian composer and musician Caterina Barbieri.
