The British Museum is presenting ‘Early Netherlandish drawings’, a free display open until 20 September.
The display explores how the Low Countries became a powerhouse of artistic innovation. An image accompanying the presentation identifies Jan Cornelisz. Vermeyen’s ‘Portrait of a young woman’, made in red chalk over traces of charcoal in 1547–48.
