The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture in Charlotte will hold an opening celebration for three exhibitions on 11 September, from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

The presentations are ‘Repossessions’, ‘Sown Together: New Voices in Contemporary Textile Art’, and ‘Yashua Klos: Cornerstones’. Together, the exhibitions explore history, identity, memory, resilience and reclamation through archival reinterpretation, textile traditions and large-scale woodblock-print collage.

An image associated with the exhibitions includes Chelle Barbour’s ‘Surreal Plantation’ (detail), 2023; Kandy G Lopez’s ‘Hispaniola V - Luz and Sydney’ (detail), 2025; and Yashua Klos’s ‘The Great Wave’ (detail), 2026. Klos’s work is made with woodblock prints, spray paint, muslin, canvas and archival paper.

The opening celebration is free and open to all ages, with RSVP requested. Registered guests will receive light bites and complimentary wine.
