İzmir Kültür Sanat Fabrikası, the cultural campus that houses the İzmir Painting and Sculpture Museum, has spotlighted ‘Soyut’ (‘Abstract’), a painting by the Turkish artist Devrim Erbil, in a post published on 31 August 2026 at 11.56am on its account @iksfabrika. The post's argument is that there is sometimes more than one way to understand a work.
The text describes ‘Soyut’ as opening onto different associations at every viewing through the moving world formed by its colours, lines and forms, and says the work — painted in oil on canvas — reflects the interpretive space that abstract art opens up. Readers are invited to visit the İzmir Painting and Sculpture Museum to look at the picture closely, and to say in the comments what they see in it.
No date, dimensions, accession details or display information for the painting are given, and the post announces no exhibition, acquisition or programme. It carries the hashtags #İzmirKültürSanatFabrikası, #İKSFdeBuluşalım and #İzmirResimveHeykelMüzesi.
Devrim Erbil is among the painters listed in the museum's own account of its holdings, alongside figures such as İbrahim Çallı, Fahrelnisa Zeid and Nuri İyem. The museum first opened in 1952 in Kültürpark, occupied a building in Konak from 1973 to 2022, and moved into İzmir Kültür Sanat Fabrikası in April 2023, into the second-largest building of the historic Alsancak Tekel factory. Its collection runs from the Tanzimat period to the present.
