The Huntsville Museum of Art will host a lecture and reception with Miles Hyman on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m., on the eve of the public opening of 'Miles Hyman: Cinematic Visions'. The museum files the evening under its exhibition preview party category and says Hyman will provide insight into the show.

The exhibition runs from September 18, 2026 to February 28, 2027 in the Chan Gallery, with entry included in general admission. The museum's event-calendar stub for the show still carries an earlier opening date of September 12; its own exhibition page and promotional graphic both give September 18.

The museum describes 'Cinematic Visions' as a comprehensive exploration of Hyman's oeuvre, from noir-inspired compositions to interpretations of literary classics, with paintings and drawings that recast familiar and imagined narratives with a sense of mystery, emotion and intrigue. Its published material does not state how many works are included.

In its newsletter the museum notes that Hyman is widely known for his interpretations of literary texts, among them his graphic adaptation of 'The Lottery', the short story by his grandmother, the author Shirley Jackson. The museum does not say whether that adaptation forms part of the Huntsville presentation.

Tickets go on sale August 24, free for museum members and $25 for non-members. The museum is at 300 Church Street SW in Huntsville, Alabama, and opens Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday until 8 p.m. with $5 admission after 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.; it is closed on Mondays. General admission is $20 for adults, with reduced rates for educators, seniors, students and active military, free entry for children aged 12 and under, and $5 for visitors qualifying through Museums for All. The museum is a cashless venue and parking in its lot is free for visitors.

The Chan Gallery currently holds Anila Quayyum Agha's installation 'A Beautiful Despair', whose last day is Sunday, August 23, 2026. 'WARHOL: film, fashion, photography' also remains on view.
