Tarsila do Amaral was a Brazilian painter, draftswoman, and translator recognized as a leading Latin American modernist artist. She was a member of the Grupo dos Cinco and played a significant role in Brazil's modern art movement. Tarsila was instrumental in developing the Antropofagia aesthetic movement and created the renowned painting Abaporu, which influenced the Manifesto Antropófago by Oswald de Andrade.
