Wits Art Museum will hold a walkabout and public conversation on its exhibition 'What We Do Not See' on Saturday 15 August 2026 at 12:00. The discussion will be facilitated by Tanya Zack, Honorary Senior Lecturer in the School of Architecture and Planning at Wits University, and will feature participating photographers Gulshan Khan, Jodi Bieber, Jabulani Dhlamini and Mark Lewis.
The museum says visitors are invited to arrive early to spend time with the exhibition before the discussion begins. Entrance to the walkabout is free and all are welcome. Free parking for the event will be available in the garage beneath the museum.
'What We Do Not See' is presented as an exhibition that remembers David Goldblatt in what would have been his 95th year. According to WAM, the show explores the idea of home — described in the announcement as the structures, places, cultures and relationships people live within — in and around Johannesburg.
Alongside Goldblatt, the exhibition brings together nine mainly Johannesburg-based photographers: Gulshan Khan, Jabulani Dhlamini, Jo Ractliffe, Jodi Bieber, Lindokuhle Sobekwa, Madoda Mkhobeni, Mark Lewis, Sabelo Mlangeni and Tshepiso Mazibuko. The walkabout is billed as a chance for several of the participating photographers to reflect on their work and offer insights into the exhibition.
