The National Print Museum in Dublin will mark its 30th anniversary with ‘Féile an Chló MHÓIR | The BIG Type Festival’, a three-day programme of talks, workshops and demonstrations taking place from 4 to 6 September 2026. The museum says the special weekend will celebrate three decades of the institution with a mix of ticketed events and a free community day.
The festival is announced by the National Print Museum, which is based at the Old Garrison Chapel in Beggars Bush Barracks, Haddington Road, Dublin 4. General admission to the museum is free, according to its visitor information, and the institution also runs guided tours and a regular programme of workshops in letterpress and related printmaking skills. The anniversary festival extends that activity into a weekend built around live making, conversation and public participation.
The opening event on 4 September is ‘Anthony Burrill and Maser in Conversation’, scheduled for 18:00-21:00, with tickets priced at €18 and €15 concession. On 5 September, the museum will host a ‘Letterpress Workshop with Anthony Burrill and Mary Plunkett’ from 10:00-16:00, priced at €150, followed by ‘Djamel White in Conversation’ from 19:00-21:00 at €18 and €15 concession.
The final day, 6 September, is framed as a Community Day and is free and drop-in, with no booking required. The programme includes live print demonstrations, practical workshops, bookbinding and papermaking, and is described as suitable for all ages. Later that evening, the museum will present ‘An Evening of Talks with Annie Atkins and Chris Haughton’ from 18:00-21:00, again priced at €18 and €15 concession.
The programme brings together practitioners known for work across design, illustration and print culture. Burrill appears twice in the festival line-up, both in conversation with Maser and in the letterpress workshop with Mary Plunkett. The museum’s final-day talks with Annie Atkins and Chris Haughton round out a schedule that moves from conversation to hands-on demonstration before ending with an evening discussion programme.
The festival’s bilingual title, ‘Féile an Chló MHÓIR | The BIG Type Festival’, reflects the National Print Museum’s Irish and English presentation of the event. With its combination of ticketed sessions and an open community day, the anniversary weekend will run across 4 to 6 September 2026 at the National Print Museum in Dublin.
