Tokyo’s Yamatane Museum of Art has announced a series of gallery talks to accompany its exhibition 'Okumura Togyu — A 100-Year Journey Through Masterworks'. The museum said curators will lead the talks in the exhibition galleries every Wednesday during the run, excluding public holidays, beginning with the exhibition’s opening on August 8, 2026.
According to the museum’s notice, the talks are scheduled for August 12, 19 and 26, followed by September 2, 9, 16 and 30, all at 10:30 a.m. Each session is expected to last about 30 minutes. Participation is free, but an admission ticket for the day is required.
The museum places a strict cap of 25 participants per session. No advance reservations will be accepted. Instead, numbered tickets will be distributed from 9:50 a.m. in the museum lobby on a first-come, first-served basis, with each person limited to one ticket. If the exhibition galleries become crowded, the museum says it may adjust the number of participants or cancel a session.
The gallery talks are described as part of the museum’s 60th anniversary special exhibition program. The event content is tied to 'Okumura Togyu — A 100-Year Journey Through Masterworks', which is identified on the museum website as the current special exhibition. The meetings will gather in the Yamatane Museum of Art’s first-floor lobby before moving into the exhibition space.
