Kunsthalle Wil will present Myriam Gämperli’s solo exhibition 'Das Surren trägt Hufe' from 15 August to 27 September 2026. The opening vernissage is scheduled for 15 August at 4 pm, and the exhibition will combine sculpture, installation, drawing, video, performance and dance in a multi-part presentation that centres on the video installation 'Die erschöpfte Show' and an evolving 'Ahnengalerie' made from 'Soul Sketches'.
The announcement comes from Kunsthalle Wil, a small institution in Wil, Switzerland, which describes the project as a solo show. The newsletter frames the exhibition as a space for “sinnliche, manchmal humorvolle” image worlds that move between the familiar and the unfamiliar, and between nature and culture, protection and restriction, beauty and unease. Those themes are developed through a range of media rather than a single format.
At the centre of the exhibition is 'Die erschöpfte Show', a videoinstallation in which a tree with a far-reaching root system spreads through the room. In the institution’s description, the work serves as a sign for connections between humans, nature and memory. The installation is also presented as an invitation to reconsider familiar hierarchies and the boundaries of the body.
Another strand of the exhibition develops over the course of the run on the upper floor, where an 'Ahnengalerie' is formed from the 'Soul Sketches'. These are drawn portraits of people from the region and of exhibition visitors who share personal stories with the artist. According to the newsletter, the resulting material becomes a many-voiced archive about origin, memory and attachment to place.
The title 'Das Surren trägt Hufe' is also linked in the announcement to a personal location for Gämperli: the inherited barn that is now her workplace. The text says the forms of wasp nests found there enter into dialogue with fabrics, garments, plant-like interlacings and religious imagery, creating an expansive installation set between the known and the strange, dream and reality, limitation and freedom.
The public programme around the exhibition includes an artist talk on 27 August at 7 pm, workshops for adults on 28 August from 6 to 8 pm and for children on 29 May from 10 am to noon, a matinée titled 'Soul Sketch Machine' with the artist on 12 September from 11 am, and a finissage on 27 September from 11 am to 4 pm with a live performance at 2 pm. Kunsthalle Wil lists its opening hours as Thursday and Friday from 4 to 7 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 2 pm, with visits for school classes and groups available on request.
