The Oklahoma City Museum of Art says it has installed a new work in its second-floor ‘Portraiture’ gallery. Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s ‘Buste de femme’ [‘Portrait of a Woman’] is now on view there, replacing Otto Duecker’s ‘Robinson.’
The museum shared the update in a brief announcement noting that visitors can see two newly installed works in its galleries. The change places a work by the French Impressionist painter in a gallery devoted to portraiture, bringing a different historical context to the display.
According to the museum, Duecker’s ‘Robinson’ has been removed from the gallery and will be on view in the Oklahoma State University Museum of Art’s exhibition. The announcement does not provide further details about the exhibition or the duration of the loan.
‘Buste de femme’ is identified by the museum with the English title ‘Portrait of a Woman.’ The work’s installation adds a Renoir portrait to the museum’s second-floor presentation, where it now occupies the space previously held by Duecker’s painting.
The museum did not announce any broader rehang or special programming alongside the installation. Its update focuses on the specific switch in the ‘Portraiture’ gallery and the transfer of ‘Robinson’ to the Oklahoma State University Museum of Art exhibition.
