Tel Aviv Artists House will open a new round of August exhibitions on August 13, 2026, among them Gabriella Saikvita’s 'Shamayim Begivon Dom' ('GevaliaDoom'), a show of abstract works curated by Yaniv Shapira. The exhibition runs until September 5, 2026, and is presented as part of the institution’s broader summer programme in Tel Aviv-Yafo.
According to the gallery’s exhibition text, Saikvita’s work in this series began almost by chance, without preparation, sketches or advance planning. The initial works emerged from isolated, loaded phrases such as “Start of the process,” “Shamayim Begivon Dom,” “Place me as a seal upon your heart,” and “And they shall beat their swords into ploughshares.” These texts were transformed into an automatic, stream-of-consciousness visual language, written freely across sheets of different sizes and then broken away from their literal meaning. In the exhibition framing, the words no longer function as text alone but as traces of thought, dream and imagination.
The artist’s statement, reproduced on the venue’s page, describes a turning point when her hand seemed to wander across the paper and the result felt “harmonious and complete.” From there, the practice developed into an intuitive working method shaped by free movement and a partial release of conscious control. The exhibition text places emphasis on accumulation over four years, describing a body of work built through repeated acts of drawing, erasure, writing, collage and layering.
The works include pieces with writing, images that recall children’s drawings and motifs such as houses, suns and trees, as well as collaged sheets of paper and fabric. The venue describes the resulting field of images as moving between text and image, between emotional outburst and meditative looking. It also notes that the accumulated works evoke layers of consciousness, memories from childhood, life experience, distress and secrets, forming an art space built from overlapping states of mind.
Saikvita’s exhibition is one of several opening simultaneously at Tel Aviv Artists House on August 13. The same programme includes 'This Is What There Is' by Yitzhak Jacobs, 'Meeting Within a Meeting' by Ronit Shachaf, 'The Yellow Stork' by Zohar Morag, 'Looks' by Ofer Par, and 'Landscape of Time' by Hanna Shvili, each with its own curator and thematic focus. The group show format signals a broad institutional presentation of different approaches to figuration, abstraction, memory and social observation.
Tel Aviv Artists House lists its address as 9 Elcharizi Street in Tel Aviv-Yafo and notes free admission. For 'Shamayim Begivon Dom', the opening is scheduled for Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 7 p.m., with the exhibition closing on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 2 p.m.
