Columbus Museum of Art will bring back ‘LEVEL THE VIBES’ on Friday, August 21, with an evening program in the sculpture garden at Columbus Museum of Art at The Pizzuti. The event is scheduled from 5:00 to 10:00 PM and is described as a celebration of reggae history and culture featuring DJ sets by Sammy Macchiato and friends.

The museum’s August newsletter lists the event under “Happenings at The Pizzuti,” alongside other summer programs, and the event page identifies it as part of the venue’s music and food-and-drink offerings. The listing also notes that entrance to the program and sculpture garden is free, while admission to the galleries is not included. Visitors who want to see the galleries are directed to inquire at the Welcome Desk for exhibition tickets.

The event is tied to the museum’s presentation of ‘Tavares Strachan: The Day Tomorrow Began’, which is on view at Columbus Museum of Art at The Pizzuti from May 16, 2026, through January 3, 2027. The exhibition is described by the museum as the first museum survey in the United States of conceptual artist Tavares Strachan, born in Nassau, Bahamas in 1979. The museum says the show brings together immersive, multisensory installations and monumental works that draw attention to “invisible” figures and histories.

According to the exhibition page, Strachan’s practice combines art, science and cultural inquiry, and ‘The Encyclopedia of Invisibility’ is central to the project. The museum describes that evolving archive as a compendium of hidden histories, figures, events and ideas suppressed within canonical historical narratives. The exhibition includes monumental sculptures, works in glass and ceramic, paintings, tapestries, self-playing musical instruments and room-scale installations.

Also connected to the exhibition is ‘Bar Room’ (2022/2025), which the museum presents as a permanent installation at The Pizzuti. The exhibition page describes it as a fully operational rum bar, café and community gathering place that will remain open after the exhibition’s run. The newsletter separately describes ‘Bar Room’ as transforming a third-floor gallery into a space of connection, conviviality and cultural memory, with handcrafted cocktails, locally roasted coffee and light bites.

‘LEVEL THE VIBES’ is one of several late-summer offerings at The Pizzuti. The museum’s August email also lists ‘Night Shift: Au Naturel’ on August 7, a curator-led tour of ‘Tavares Strachan: The Day Tomorrow Began’ on August 28, and continuing summer late-night hours for Bar Room. For ‘LEVEL THE VIBES’, however, the verified details are limited to the date, time, free sculpture-garden access, and the reggae-focused DJ program in the garden at Columbus Museum of Art at The Pizzuti, 632 Park Street in Columbus.
