The NTT InterCommunication Center (ICC) in Tokyo will host an artist talk and live performance by Keita Miyashita on August 9, 2026, as part of the open salon programme for ‘ICC Annual 2026: Remembering / Remaining / Receiving’. The event is tied to Miyashita’s presentation in the exhibition’s emerging-artist section, ‘Emergencies! 048’, where he is showing ‘Just a Bit of Those Things: Honin no saitanai monogoto’.\n\nAccording to ICC, the event begins at 3 p.m. and will take place in Gallery D. Admission to the event is free, though a separate exhibition admission is required to view the show itself. Attendance is capped at 100 people on a first-come, first-served basis. ICC also said the programme will be livestreamed online.\n\nThe event is presented by NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC] and will be moderated by Tomoya Kashimada of ICC. The gallery’s notice frames the talk and performance as part of the broader public programme surrounding ‘ICC Annual 2026: Remembering / Remaining / Receiving’, which includes the ‘Emergencies!’ section devoted to introducing emerging artists.\n\nMiyashita is identified by ICC as an artist, engineer and improviser whose practice focuses on relationships between human beings and contemporary technologies such as electricity, information and communications systems. His work uses systems and devices as artistic material, and he also develops improvisational performance based on the behaviour of electric current through equipment including electric guitar, speakers and analogue mixers.\n\nICC notes that Miyashita’s sound-based communication work ‘BEAT/BIT’ was selected in 2022 as a recommended work by the judging committee for the Art Division of the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival. That background places the August programme within a practice that moves between installation, systems-based art and live performance.\n\nThe August 9 event is listed for ICC Gallery D at the NTT InterCommunication Center in Nishi-Shinjuku, Tokyo.
