The Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya is promoting a weekend visit that pairs a guided tour of key works from its collection with on-site food and panoramic views over Barcelona. The museum says the English-language session ‘Col·lecció MNAC. The Highlights’ will take place on Saturday, August 1, from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm at MNAC, Montjuïc, Barcelona.
According to the museum’s weekend programme, the one-hour guided tour is designed to introduce visitors to the collection’s essential works through a selection of pieces drawn from the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque, and Modern art galleries. The listing describes the format as an art-and-gastronomy experience, and pairs the visit with the museum’s food and social spaces rather than a standalone tour only.
MNAC’s weekend page presents the guided visit within a broader set of recurring public activities offered every Saturday and Sunday. These include short thematic visits such as ‘Una obra, 15 minuts’, contemporary readings of the collection, author-led tours, commented visits to temporary exhibitions, artistic walks around Montjuïc, and access to restricted areas such as the restoration workshop and reserves.
For the same weekend, the museum notes that its Saturday hours run from 10 am to 8 pm, with free admission from 3 pm. On Sunday, August 2, the museum is open from 10 am to 3 pm, with free entry on the first Sunday of the month. The programme also highlights family-oriented creative and reading spaces in the Oval Hall that are open on both days.
The museum’s dining offer is part of the appeal of the weekend visit. MNAC says visitors can enjoy vermouth, aperitifs, lunch, and picnic options at the museum café, while the Òleum restaurant is also presented as a place to eat with wide views over Barcelona. The same messaging encourages visitors to use the terrace viewpoints and to share their experiences under the hashtags #CapdeSetmanaMNAC and #MomentsMNAC.
Sunday’s programme includes another English-language ‘The Highlights’ tour at 11.30 am, alongside a separate commented visit in Catalan and Spanish titled ‘obres mestres de la col·lecció. mil anys d’art’. The weekend listing also names the temporary exhibitions ‘Recuperado del enemigo’. Els dipòsits franquistes al MNAC, ‘Vesica Piscis’ by Fernando Prats, and ‘Adquisició SIM, el dibuix i la guerra’ as part of the museum’s current offer.
