Pretzel Theater Company’s production of Jason Robert Brown’s 'Songs for a New World' is in its final weekend at Allens Lane Theater in Philadelphia. The show, directed by Joshua Tull with music direction by Cheri Tigh, concludes its run on August 2, according to an email from Allens Lane Art Center and the production’s listing on the theater’s ticketing page.
The announcement came through Allens Lane Art Center’s newsletter, which described the weekend as the last chance to see the musical and noted that performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday evenings, followed by a final Sunday matinee. The theater listing confirms the run began on July 24 and includes performances on July 24, 25 and 26, then again on July 31, August 1 and August 2.
Allens Lane Art Center is based in Philadelphia’s Mount Airy neighborhood and presents theater alongside classes, gallery programming and camp. Its website describes Live @ The Lane as a performing arts series that includes music, dance, spoken word, comedy and theater, and says the organization has been active since 1953. The theater page also identifies the venue’s historic Café Theater as an air-conditioned space with BYO food and drink for most performances.
The current production page lists 'Songs for a New World' as presented by Pretzel Theater Co. at Allens Lane Theater, with tickets available through the venue’s online system. The run is scheduled at 601 West Allens Lane in Philadelphia, and the listing gives the performance times as 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays across the two-weekend engagement.
The newsletter also notes a practical detail for audience members: the theater is accessible only by stairs, and seating is limited. That information appears alongside the final-weekend reminder, underscoring the small-scale setting for the production.
Allens Lane’s theater programming page says the organization’s productions are intended to reflect the diversity of the surrounding neighborhoods and that its Mainstage work includes contemporary drama, new works, plays for young audiences and reimagined classics. The same page says the center is preparing its 2026-2027 Live @ The Lane season, titled 'Infinity', with tickets set to go on sale August 5.
