Museum im Kulturspeicher (MiK) in Würzburg will mark the 100th birthday of the Würzburg-born artist and collector Joachim Schlotterbeck with a 'Kunstaperitif' on 12 August. The event is scheduled for 5 pm and runs for two hours, combining a short guided tour with time for informal conversation over a drink. The museum says the programme is tied to Schlotterbeck’s centenary and centers on works from its own collections.

Schlotterbeck, who was born in 1926 in Würzburg and died in 2007, is described by the museum as a painter and collector. In the announcement, MiK frames the occasion as a tribute to a Franconian artistic personality whose work and collecting activity remain represented in the museum’s holdings. The museum’s website lists the event under the title 'Joachim Schlotterbeck. Maler, Sammler, Lebenskünstler'.

According to the museum, Henrike Holsing, curator and deputy director of MiK, will lead a roughly 20-minute tour. She will present selected works by Schlotterbeck from the municipal collection and offer an introduction to his life and work. The museum also notes that Holsing will show pieces from Schlotterbeck’s own art collection, which came to MiK as a donation in 1998.

The format of the 'Kunstaperitif' is intentionally modest and social: after the tour, visitors are invited to exchange views on what they have seen and heard while having a drink. Admission to the programme itself is free with regular museum entry; the museum lists the price at 5 euros, reduced to 3 euros, while children and young people have free admission. No registration is required.

MiK’s newsletter places the birthday event within a broader set of August activities and also points to another tribute nearby. It says the Würzburg art house Kunsthaus Michel will present a separate homage to Schlotterbeck with selected works and curiosities from 15 July to 18 September 2026, with its own celebrations starting on 12 August at 7 pm. The museum’s own event, however, remains the scheduled focal point at MiK that afternoon.

Museum im Kulturspeicher is located at Oskar-Laredo-Platz 1 in Würzburg. Its current opening hours are Tuesday from 1 pm to 6 pm and Wednesday through Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm, with late opening on the third Thursday of the month until 9 pm. The museum says the 'Kunstaperitif' on 12 August is part of its programme of guided visits and events for August.
