Museo Picasso Málaga is marking the summer season with 'Summertime', a programme running from 1 July to 31 August 2026 that invites visitors to experience Picasso through digital and on-site resources. The museum says the initiative is designed to let audiences explore Picasso’s work, life and legacy in a slower, more intimate way, and it will be followed through the museum’s social media channels under the hashtag #SummertimeMPM.
The programme extends beyond a single activity and is presented as a set of summer-facing materials linked to the museum’s permanent offering. Among the elements highlighted on the museum’s website is a playlist inspired by George Gershwin’s 'Summertime' from 1935, bringing together historical versions of the song alongside other music associated with summer. The museum is also promoting 'PódcastsMPM', available in Spanish and, for the first time, also in English, with content that opens up current and past exhibitions.
Another strand is the museum’s Multimedia section, which gathers conferences, seminars, guided visits, interviews and other audiovisual resources. Museo Picasso Málaga describes this area as a way to immerse audiences in what it calls the creative universe of the Málaga-born artist. The summer programme also includes social posts under the heading 'Picasso con el verano', with biographical curiosities, memories from Picasso’s childhood in Málaga and seasonal images from the Roberto Otero photographic archive held by the museum.
The museum’s library shop is also part of the seasonal offer. In both the physical shop and its online store, the museum says visitors can find items such as fans, bags, pareos, beach towels and textiles decorated with marinière-style lines, alongside museum publications and recommended reading for adults and children. These materials sit alongside the broader digital programme as part of the museum’s summer presentation.
Museo Picasso Málaga is also extending its opening hours during July and August, when the museum will remain open from 10:00 to 20:00, with last admission at 19:30. The institution says the longer hours are intended to make visits easier for both residents and visitors spending the summer in the city.
The 'Summertime' programme is listed at Museo Picasso Málaga from 1 July to 31 August 2026, and the website links it to related exhibitions including 'Pablo Picasso: structures of the invention' and 'The unity of a work'.
