The National Gallery of Ireland will host a free Thursday Lates event on 30 July, offering an evening programme spread throughout the gallery from 4.30pm to 8pm. The museum describes the event as a specially curated collaboration with the Embassy of Spain in Ireland, presented as part of the Dublin by Dusk initiative in support of the Night-Time Economy After Hours at the Museum scheme.
According to the gallery’s listing, the evening will combine live music, tours, wine-tasting, a film screening, a drop-in workshop and a Meet the Makers event. Admission is free, though some elements require booking, and the gallery notes that paid events are marked with a euro symbol on its website. The programme is designed to take place across different parts of the building rather than in a single venue or auditorium.
The schedule begins at 4.30pm with a film screening in collaboration with Instituto Cervantes Dublin. From 5pm to 6pm, visitors can join a tour of the highlights of the Spanish collection in English, while a workshop on comic books, visual storytelling and narrative development runs from 5pm to 7pm. An interactive display titled 'Beyond Blake' with the gallery’s Youth Panel is listed from 5pm to 8pm.
Two further guided activities focus on food, art and the Spanish collection. A tour and wine tasting titled 'Spanish Food and Art' runs from 5.30pm to 6.45pm and is marked as fully booked. Also from 5.30pm, the gallery shop will host the Meet the Makers event. A second tour of the Spanish collection, presented in Spanish, is scheduled from 6pm to 7pm.
The evening will conclude with a performance titled 'Music in the time of Murillo: Spanish Baroque' at 7pm. The gallery says this event is free but booking is required. The listing presents the programme as a collaboration centred on the Spanish collection and on activities intended to animate the gallery after normal hours.
The National Gallery of Ireland, based on Merrion Square West in Dublin 2, keeps Thursday opening hours until 8.30pm. Its Thursday Lates page frames the 30 July event as part of that broader evening-access offer, with activities running across the gallery and linking the museum’s collection, shop, and public programme to the Embassy of Spain in Ireland’s partnership and the Dublin by Dusk initiative.
