The Centre for Contemporary Photography will open 'Unbound: New Photo Zines' on 6 August 2026 at ArtSpace at Realm in Ringwood, Melbourne, presenting six emerging Australian photographic artists in a group exhibition that grows out of CCP’s CCP.PE.ZINE publishing series. The show runs until 13 September 2026 and brings together work by Minami Ivory, Nik Ranepura, Yask Desai, Ryley Clarke, Patricia Sofra and Hussein Abdirahman Mohamud.

According to CCP, the exhibition gathers artists whose work first appeared in a series of zines published by the centre and Perimeter Editions in 2025. The project is framed by CCP as part of its long-standing commitment to accessible publishing and artistic experimentation, and 'Unbound: New Photo Zines' extends those printed works into the gallery wall format. The organisation describes the zines as affordable, tactile and intentionally democratic publications.

The exhibition is presented as a major group show at ArtSpace at Realm, with the artists’ different approaches to photography brought into dialogue. CCP says the exhibition brings together their “unique ways of using the camera” to spark new narratives, ideas and explorations of contemporary visual storytelling. Each zine in the CCP.PE.ZINE series features one Australian photographer, and the exhibition draws from the first six projects selected for the series.

CCP Director Daniel Boetker-Smith selected those six projects for the initial run of the publishing initiative, which CCP says aims to increase the visibility of young and emerging Australian photographers. The institution positions the series as a launchpad for practices it describes as urgent and personal, while also visually engaging. In that sense, the exhibition is not a separate departure from the books but an expansion of them, shifting attention from the small-scale publication to the larger shared space of the gallery.

The venue context is also part of the announcement. ArtSpace at Realm is a library, learning and cultural venue in the heart of Ringwood’s Town Square, and Maroondah City Council says its ArtSpace program covers a wide range of contemporary visual and performing arts. The exhibition page lists opening hours for the venue as weekdays from 10:00am to 5:00pm and weekends from 11:00am to 4:00pm.

An opening event is scheduled for Thursday 6 August at 6pm at ArtSpace at Realm, 179 Maroondah Hwy, Ringwood, Melbourne. CCP presents the exhibition in partnership with Artspace at Realm and Maroondah Council, with support from HCPro, Spicers, Hahnemuhle and Perimeter Books. The exhibition is listed from 6 August to 13 September 2026.
