Bratislava City Gallery will present 'Umenie interakcie' at Pálffy Palace, focusing on art that asks visitors to take part in the work rather than simply observe it. The exhibition runs from 14 May to 18 October 2026 on the second floor of the palace, and the gallery describes it as a project that explores how art can move both body and mind through active engagement.
According to the gallery’s exhibition page, 'Umenie interakcie' looks at the possibilities of audience participation in the perception, interpretation and creation of artworks from the 1960s onward. The show brings together works of Slovak, Czech and Polish provenance from the collections of Bratislava City Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art in Hradec Králové. Its structure is built around works whose participatory character is central to the viewing experience.
The exhibition’s curatorial framework is credited to Vendelína Kováčová, with expert collaboration by Mira Keratová. The original concept is attributed to Patricie Kaválková, Helena Šestáková and František Zachoval from Galerie moderního umění v Hradci Králové. The graphic design and exhibition architecture are by Peter Liška, Dušan Veverka and Dominika Szabová.
The gallery says the project is designed to encourage learning through experience and to offer a different way of spending time in the museum. Rather than treating the gallery as a purely contemplative space, 'Umenie interakcie' aims to stimulate curiosity, open interdisciplinary links and create room for active sharing of experiences. That approach is reflected in the selection of artists named on the exhibition page, which includes Milan Adamčiak, Juraj Bartusz, Wojciech Bruszewski, Robert Cyprich, Anton Čierny, Anna Daučíková, Ľubomír Ďurček, Petra Feriancová, Vladimír Havlík, Vladimír Havrilla, Eva Koníček, Jarosław Kozłowski, Ivan Kříž-Vyrubiš, Anna Kutera, Alex Mlynárčik, Teresa Murak, Marian Palla, Peter Rónai, Rudolf Sikora, Miloš Urbásek, Petr Válek and Jiří Valoch.
A linked newsletter from Bratislava City Gallery places 'Umenie interakcie' among the institution’s summer programme in Pálffy Palace, alongside other exhibitions listed separately. For the interactive show, the newsletter repeats the same dates and venue and notes admission to the palace at 8 euros, or 4 euros reduced. The gallery’s website also lists family programming and a workshop connected to the exhibition, including 'Výtvarný recept' on 12 September and 'Ako vnímať umenie?' on 16 September.
