The Norman Lindsay Gallery in Faulconbridge is preparing to extend its after-dark programming this winter with ‘Art and Astronomy’, a ticketed evening experience that pairs gallery access with guided stargazing in the heritage gardens. According to the National Trust NSW listing, the event will run on three separate nights: 10 July, 31 July and 1 August 2026, with sessions timed for different points in the evening.

The program places Norman Lindsay’s paintings and illustrations at the centre of a nocturnal visit, then moves outdoors into the grounds surrounding the former home of the Australian artist and writer. The event description says guests will explore the gallery after dark before stepping into the heritage gardens to see illuminated sculptures and fountains and join an astronomer-led stargazing tour beneath the Southern Sky. The National Trust also describes the setting as being in Faulconbridge on Dharug and Gundungurra Country.

‘Art and Astronomy’ is part of a broader seasonal program at Norman Lindsay Gallery that foregrounds the artist’s long relationship with nature, the landscape and the gardens around his Blue Mountains home. The gallery’s current exhibition, ‘Norman Lindsay and the natural world’, runs from 2 April to 10 August 2026 and focuses on paintings and watercolours examining Lindsay’s lifelong fascination with nature. The exhibition text says the works range from intimate forest encounters to mythic figures and reflect Lindsay’s vision of the natural world as a living force shaping human form and spirit.

The gallery itself is promoted by the National Trust as the former home of Lindsay, his wife Rose and their daughters, with the original painting studio, heritage gardens and short bushwalks among its key visitor experiences. The venue page says Lindsay purchased the sandstone cottage and surrounding bushland in 1912 and transformed the property into an artistic haven he called ‘Springwood’. It also notes that the National Trust holds a significant collection of his work and that the site now presents permanent and changing exhibitions alongside displays devoted to ‘The Magic Pudding’.

For the night-time astronomy event, the Trust says visitors will receive after-hours access to the gallery, wine and nibbles on arrival, a one-hour gallery tour and a one-hour stargazing session with an astronomer. Additional highlights listed for the event include telescope viewing of planets, stars, constellations and galaxies, as well as naked-eye astronomy tips, binocular viewing and a Q&A with the astronomer. The site also mentions a sunset view across the Grose Valley from Norman Lindsay’s private bushwalk.

The event is ticketed at $135, with booking fees applying. The listing gives three start times: Friday 10 July at 6:30pm, Friday 31 July at 7:30pm and Saturday 1 August at 5:00pm. The event page identifies the venue as Norman Lindsay Gallery in the Blue Mountains and describes it as a rare night-time experience where art, history and the cosmos meet in the heritage gardens and gallery spaces.
