The Teloglion Foundation of Arts at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki has announced two major autumn exhibitions for 2026, beginning with 'Mezicof. A World of Wonders' on October 7 and continuing with 'Art-Print: Artistic Typography' on October 27. The foundation says the season will open with a focus on the “ephemeral magic” of theatrical costume and the “high aesthetics” of the art book, placing performance, design and print culture at the center of its fall programme.
According to the foundation’s announcement, 'Mezicof. A World of Wonders' is dedicated to Nikos Kourkoulas and described as a special tribute to the theatre figure. The exhibition is scheduled to open on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 8 p.m. and is included in the official programme of the 61st Dimitria festival organized by the Municipality of Thessaloniki. The foundation says the opening will be carried out by Marianna Latsi.
The exhibition will present theatrical materials including sets, accessories, costumes and models. Teloglion says these objects reveal the fleeting path of stage creation and preserve the material presence of major roles, offering a distinctive visual experience. The announcement frames the show as a close look at costume and scenography as artistic forms in their own right, rather than as secondary documentation of performance.
The second exhibition, 'Art-Print: Artistic Typography', opens on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 7 p.m. It is presented under the auspices of the President of the Hellenic Republic and is a co-organization with the Onassis Foundation. Teloglion describes the project as a different approach to the creative dimension of typography, bringing together historical editions and rare bookbindings.
The foundation says the exhibition will include the historic DIATTON editions by Nikos Vozikis, with works by Dionysios Solomos, Andreas Kalvos, Constantine Cavafy and Yannis Ritsos. It will also feature rare and notable bindings by artists including Braque and Erni from the private collection of Antonis Papadimitriou. The project places typography in dialogue with poetry, publishing and the book as an art object.
Alongside the autumn exhibitions, the foundation has also extended the deadline for entries to the 6th Panhellenic Painting Competition in memory of painter Loukas Venetoulas. The new deadline is Friday, May 22, 2026. This year’s theme is 'Water A & Omega', which the foundation links to climate change, the symbolic meanings of water and its recurring role in art history.
The competition is open to artists aged 18 to 39 in 2026, with participants submitting one painted work each. Teloglion says the works should be ready to hang and may use the artist’s chosen material, as long as they are paintings rather than works in another technique. The selected works will be exhibited at the foundation, and four will be chosen by the jury: one prizewinner and three equal honorary mentions. The event is based at the Teloglion Foundation of Arts, Agiou Dimitriou 159A, Thessaloniki.
