The Art Renewal Center has announced that Ruben Torres Alonso, also known as Torrex, has joined its ARC Living Artists roster as a new artist. The announcement was published on 22 October 2026.
Alonso is a Spanish painter who was raised in the rural and semi-desert landscape of southern Navarra, a place to which he remains deeply connected.
He says that he strives, day after day, to capture this connection on the canvas with his pigments. His stated artistic concerns include timelessness, raw materials, light and wind.
Viewers can encounter these ideas through the series ‘Raices (Roots)’ and ‘Los Arraigados (The Rooted ones).’
Alonso received classical art training at Atelier Madrid under Arantzazu Martínez and Mikel Olazabal. His training is therefore associated with Atelier Madrid and the instruction of those two artists.
