‘Babe, Kiss, Luv & Boss’ is Manifold Editions’ new release by Harland Miller, a series of four etchings inspired by the artist’s Letter Paintings on paper. The release includes ‘Luv (2026)’, an etching printed from multiple plates, with each plate inked à la poupée so that different coloured inks are applied to specific areas before the work is run through the press; it is then finished by hand in the print studio.
The editions are finished by hand in the print studio after printing. The technique is etching with hand-finishing by the print studio, and the edition is an edition of 50. The four works are created through multiple layers of colour etching and hand-finishing by the print studio.
Miller describes these as “easily the hardest prints I’ve ever made,” adding that the paintings they are made from are “very loose” and that the team had to work hard to capture that feeling. He says that, when he looks at the finished prints, there is “no sense of the thousand-and-one proofs” made to reach them, and adds that “these are full of” joy.
Miller’s Letter Paintings deconstruct words by arranging their constituent letters into pictorial forms, demonstrating the aesthetic and interpretive potential of short words. The Letter Paintings formed the basis of his most recent museum exhibitions at York Art Gallery in 2025 and the Design Museum, London, in 2025–26.
