The Paris gallery Mitterrand has opened a second space at 28 avenue Matignon, inaugurating it with a presentation devoted to Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne. The new address, originally designed by Pierre Yovanovitch, opened to the public on September 10, 2026, and the Lalanne presentation remains on view through October 31.

Among the works shown is François-Xavier Lalanne's Lapin à vent (1994–2008), a bronze sculpture of a rabbit measuring 177 by 265 centimetres. The gallery has also scheduled a grand opening for the space on October 19, during the MaSH Matignon–Saint-Honoré art night, when the venue's two floors will be presented to visitors.

The gallery describes the move as a new stage in its development and a reinforcement of its presence in the Matignon–Saint-Honoré district. It follows the October 2024 inauguration of Mitterrand's gallery at 95 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, a few steps away, designed by the Belgian architect Bernard Dubois. With the two addresses, the gallery aims to anchor itself in Paris's eighth arrondissement.

Mitterrand conceives the Matignon space as a hybrid venue with flexible programming. It will host standalone presentations as well as projects developed in dialogue with the exhibitions at the Faubourg Saint-Honoré gallery. In a statement, Edward Mitterrand said the new address offers "a freer space, conducive to experimentation and to a diversity of projects," and noted that the gallery has continued to explore new possibilities since 1988.

The opening coincides with a new group exhibition at the Faubourg Saint-Honoré gallery, Nothing to Read, which also opens on October 19. Its artists include Jean-Michel Basquiat, Irma Blank, Alighiero Boetti, Betty Danon, Mirtha Dermisache, On Kawara, Michael Krebber, Glenn Ligon, Henri Michaux, Roman Opałka, Mimmo Rotella, Gary Simmons and Christopher Wool.
