The photography exhibition ‘Love Stories’ will run from 19 December 2026 to 30 May 2027. It explores how love shapes everyday life, moving beyond traditional romantic narratives to include friendship, family, partnership, community and selfhood.

The exhibition includes work by Richard Billingham, Martin Parr, Akihito Yoshida, Zanele Muholi, Sunil Gupta, Charan Singh, Masahisa Fukase, Ollie Adegbayo, Isabel Okoro and Carol Allen-Storey.

Billingham’s work documents the lives of his parents, Ray and Liz, in their flat in England’s Black Country. Parr’s ‘Bored Couples’ examines how individual assumptions and context influence the interpretation of photographs.

Shown in the UK for the first time, Yoshida’s series documents the relationship between his grandmother and her grandson, the photographer’s cousin, Daiki.

‘Love Stories’ is curated by Tafadzwa Makwabarara, Curator of Cultural Empowerment at the Sainsbury Centre, and forms part of the Sainsbury Centre’s ‘How Do We Find Love?’ exhibition season.
