Girona Museum of Art has announced 'Art a la platja', a family workshop focused on textile painting and aimed at children from age six. The activity is organized by the museum’s educational service and invites participants to design their own cloth bag using textile markers and inspiration drawn from what the museum describes as the most summery works in its collection.
The workshop is listed as part of the museum’s family programme, 'md’A en família', and is presented in a practical, hands-on format. According to the museum’s activity page, the session will help children create a useful summer accessory while also introducing them to artworks from the collection through a themed making activity. The museum says the bag has cords and is intended for storing belongings during the summer.
The announcement was posted by the Girona Museum of Art, also known as Museu d’Art de Girona, which is based at Pujada de la Catedral, 12, in Girona. The museum’s site presents the workshop alongside its wider calendar of activities, educational offerings, exhibitions and visitor services, reflecting the institution’s ongoing mix of collection-based programming and family-oriented events.
'Art a la platja' is scheduled for 7 July 2026 at 17:00, with additional sessions listed for 16 July, 11 August and 20 August, all at 17:00. The museum notes that places are limited and advance booking is required. The activity is priced at 7 euros for children, while one accompanying adult per child may attend free of charge.
The workshop is curated by the museum’s educational team, listed on the page as 'Serveis Educatius del md’A'. The museum also identifies the activity as suitable for children starting at age six. Rather than presenting a lecture or guided tour, the format centers on creative participation, using textile markers to build a personalised object linked to the museum’s seasonal framing of its collection.
The activity page provides the clearest published details on the programme, including its title, method and multiple summer dates. It is one of several family activities currently listed by the museum, which also includes other calendar entries on its site, but the confirmed focus of 'Art a la platja' remains the textile-painting workshop and its scheduled sessions in July and August 2026.
