Stanford Art Museums has corrected the closing date for 'Jeremy Frey: Woven', saying the exhibition will remain on view through July 20. The announcement comes after an earlier email mistakenly listed July 2 as the final day. The update matters for visitors planning to see the show at what the museum describes as its final and only West Coast venue.

The exhibition is presented by the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University. In the museum’s newsletter, the Stanford Art Museums grouped 'Jeremy Frey: Woven' with other summer programming and identified it as one of the season’s final chances to view a major installation on campus. The correction was issued in a separate email, which apologized for the error and restated the proper closing date.

'Jeremy Frey: Woven' features more than 30 works by Jeremy Frey, a seventh-generation Native American basket weaver and MacArthur “genius” award-winning artist. The exhibition traces Frey’s development from the early 2000s to the present day and presents his practice as one that continues to expand the possibilities of woven art forms. According to the museum’s description, Frey characterizes the project as “thousands of years in the making,” a reference to the ancestral knowledge passed down through generations of Wabanaki basket weavers.

The Cantor’s framing places Frey’s work in a broader conversation about inherited technique and contemporary artistic innovation. By bringing together a substantial group of baskets and related works, the exhibition shows the progression of his practice over time rather than isolating a single period or style. The museum also emphasizes that this is the artist’s only West Coast venue, underscoring the regional significance of the run at Stanford.

The newsletter pointed visitors to the Bloomberg Connects app for a deeper look at the exhibition, including audio commentary from Maine basket weaver Theresa Secord on the Point Basket and from California basket weaver Jennifer Bates on the fine-weave basket. Those materials are presented as a guide for exploring the show, which the museum says invites viewers to consider both the technical and cultural dimensions of Frey's work.

The revised closing date places 'Jeremy Frey: Woven' alongside other summer offerings at Stanford Art Museums, but the basket-weaving exhibition remains the subject of the correction notice itself. The museum’s message was direct: “The correct closing date is July 20.” That is now the date visitors should use when planning a final visit to the galleries.
