‘Using the NGV to Teach: Contemporary Art’ will be held online from 4–5pm on Wednesday 21 October.
The session is suitable for teachers and pre-service teachers of all levels and curriculum areas. Its focus is on exploring ways to inspire students to think creatively and engage in critical conversation about contemporary art.
‘Using the NGV to Teach’ is a series of free online programs introducing ideas and strategies for incorporating art and design into teaching and learning in specific curriculum areas. The programs are presented by NGV educators.
Participants will identify and discuss key concepts relevant to contemporary art in the NGV Collection, analyse works of art and design in the collection, and discover NGV resources and programs to support teaching and learning about contemporary art.
The NGV describes contemporary art as a powerful resource for classroom teaching across the curriculum because it is often innovative, thought provoking and focused on current issues and concerns.
