The Art Gallery of Sudbury will open ‘Art for All(ways): 30 Years of Myths and Mirrors’ on 16 July 2026, presenting an anniversary exhibition dedicated to Myths and Mirrors Community Arts and its three decades of community-based work. The show runs through 12 September 2026 at the gallery’s exhibition space at 174 Elgin St. in Sudbury, and is presented as a look back at the organization’s development from a small 1996 initiative into a region-wide platform for collaborative artmaking.

According to the gallery’s exhibition text, Myths and Mirrors began in Sudbury in 1996 as “a small offbeat arts organization” and was originally conceived as a three-year project. The exhibition brings together works that trace how the organization has grown while continuing to focus on the lived realities of participants. The curatorial material says the group’s practice has consistently centered community exchange, compassionate listening and creative flexibility, with projects shaped by stories, ideas and art shared among participants.

The exhibition is also framed as a record of changing leadership across Myths and Mirrors’ history. The gallery identifies five artistic directors who have contributed to the organization over time: Laurie McGauley, Tanya Anne Ball, Sarah King Gold, Jesse Brady and Cora-Rae Silk. It also notes that the organization is currently collaboratively led by Selina Stos and ER Simbagoye. The curatorial text describes the show as a snapshot of three decades of community-led projects that celebrate solidarity and deepen understanding.

The gallery says the work of Myths and Mirrors has expanded well beyond its early base in the Flour Mill and Donovan neighbourhoods, eventually including residents from across the region and Northern Ontario. The exhibition text emphasizes that the organization’s projects have been built through exchanges of stories, compassion and ideas, and that the show highlights how those exchanges have shaped both the works and the broader community practice around them. The exhibition’s stated purpose is to reflect on thirty years of “storytelling, solidarity, and collective imagination.”

‘Art for All(ways): 30 Years of Myths and Mirrors’ is curated by Cora-Rae Silk and Ra’anaa Yaminah Ekundayo. The gallery’s exhibition page lists Myths and Mirrors Community Arts as the artist and gives the venue as Art Gallery of Sudbury | Galerie d'art de Sudbury. A curatorial note on the page says the text is based on ‘Our Story,’ written by Myths and Mirrors founder Laurie McGauley and edited by Selina Stos and ER Simbagoye.

The exhibition page also lists related programming, including a Workshop x UpHere session on 13 August from 6 to 8 p.m. at 170 Elgin St., and a closing reception on 11 September from 5 to 7 p.m. at 174 Elgin St. The gallery’s July 2026 bulletin also notes the exhibition dates as 16 July to 12 September 2026 and includes a preview link for ‘Art for All(ways): 30 Years of Myths and Mirrors’.
