The exhibition presents about 20 works created in 2026 and is on view at Pace New York’s 508 and 510 West 25th Street locations through October 24, 2026.

After five decades, Arlene Shechet is experimenting with a new material: corten steel. “It’s like a rope,” the artist says of the material. “It’s very strong and robust, and it’s such a powerful material.”

Shechet’s monumental sculpture ‘Flo’ is like a three-dimensional abstract painting filled with geometric shapes—ovals, circles, trapezoids, curves, and cylinders—morphing into one another. Shechet says, “You’ll see that every view is completely a new composition. It’s a new story.”

‘Eve’ is a tall, long lavender and light-blue abstract silhouette of a woman, made of welded and cast aluminum. ‘Jewel’ is a vivid green welded-aluminum sculpture that assembles irregular planes, cylinders, rods, and a faceted silver protrusion into a precarious, almost anthropomorphic form.

“There’s no controlling the narrative,” Shechet says. “You can only do what you can do and make what you want to make, and write what you want to write, and cross your fingers, hope that your efforts are acknowledged.”
