Caumont Centre d’Art in Aix-en-Provence is expanding its summer programming around 'Toulouse-Lautrec, créateur d’icônes' with a series of children’s workshop-visits running from 7 July to 28 August 2026. The sessions are designed for children aged five to 12 and pair a guided visit to the exhibition with a hands-on workshop, allowing participants to observe Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec’s works before making an original artwork to take home.
The centre’s programme presents the workshops as an introduction to the artist’s world through age-appropriate observation and making. After the visit, children move into a creative session linked to the day’s theme. The itinerary is built around Toulouse-Lautrec’s graphic practice and visual subjects, with activities that focus on lithography, portraiture, poster art, and a pop-up card inspired by the Moulin Rouge. The centre says each child leaves with the work produced during the atelier.
The workshop series is structured by age and day of the week. 'La technique de la lithographie' is scheduled for children aged eight to 12 on Tuesdays from 7 July to 25 August. 'L’art du portrait', also for ages eight to 12, takes place on Wednesdays from 8 July to 26 August. 'L’art de l’affiche' is offered to children aged five to nine on Thursdays from 9 July to 27 August, while 'Le Moulin Rouge, carte pop’up' runs on Fridays from 10 July to 28 August for the same younger age group.
Practical details on the event page state that the combined visit and workshop lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes, with 45 minutes devoted to the visit and 45 minutes to the atelier. Sessions are listed from 9:45 am to 11:15 am, and the single price for the visit-plus-workshop format is €15. The activity is conducted in French.
The summer offer sits alongside a wider set of exhibition-related public programmes at Caumont. The centre’s email announcement for the season also highlights guided visits to the Toulouse-Lautrec exhibition every day at 5:15 pm, with special commented visits on Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 am. Two conference events, both presented by Laurent Genest, are also listed in the same season’s communications.
The first of those talks, 'Montmartre et sa vie artistique à l’époque de Toulouse-Lautrec', is set for Saturday 4 July 2026 at 10 am in the auditorium and is priced at €13. The second, 'L’art de l’affiche selon Toulouse-Lautrec', follows on Saturday 25 July 2026 at 10 am, also in the auditorium and at the same price. Across the summer, the programme at Caumont is framed around the exhibition 'Toulouse-Lautrec, créateur d’icônes' and the centre’s stated goal of introducing younger audiences to the artist through guided observation and making.
