THE GÄLLERY will host a juried exhibition for Photosommer Stuttgart 2026 from 18 July to 13 September 2026, marking the second time the Alte Staatsgalerie has made its rooms available to the citywide photography festival. The exhibition, titled 'UNORDNUNG', presents works by 23 artists and photographers exploring different dimensions of the theme through photography.

According to the museum’s July newsletter, the show uses the idea of disorder as both a loss of orientation and a prompt for new perspectives. The text frames 'UNORDNUNG' as a condition in which familiar structures lose their validity, opening the way to unexpected viewpoints. It also notes that disorder in photography is not always visibly obvious: it can appear beneath a carefully ordered surface as well as in images of overt disruption.

The exhibition sits at the centre of the broader Photosommer programme, which runs across Stuttgart. During the festival’s core period from 18 to 26 July, numerous galleries in the city are scheduled to present exhibitions and events on the same theme. The newsletter identifies 'UNORDNUNG' as the festival’s prominent focal point, rather than a standalone presentation.

A public opening is set for Friday, 17 July, at 18:00, with access through the gate of the Alte Staatsgalerie. The newsletter says visitors will be able to enter the exhibition at no charge between 17:00 and 22:00 that evening, and that a light and music performance by Laurenz Theinert will continue in the Säulensaal until midnight, alongside drinks.

The exhibition’s credit image is listed as a photograph by Valerie Schmidt from the series 'Claus stolpert', made in 2018. That reference offers a glimpse of the visual range surrounding the show, though the newsletter does not identify individual participating artists or works beyond the overall count of 23 contributors.

The announcement appears in the Staatsgalerie’s July programme mailing, alongside other museum events and exhibitions, but the photography show itself is specifically tied to THE GÄLLERY and the Photosommer Stuttgart 2026 festival schedule. Its dates run from 18 July through 13 September 2026 in Stuttgart.
