Bechtler Installation Pairing Recent Acquisitions with Permanent-Collection Works Goes on View

A temporary installation at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art went on view on September 26, 2026. Its central format is a series of pairings between the museum’s recent acquisitions and works that have long been part of its permanent collection.

The relationships between the works vary according to the connections that emerge between them. Some pairings share approaches to material, form, or process, while others reveal resonances in subject matter or artistic concerns. The installation does not suggest direct lines of influence between the works. Instead, the pairings invite visitors to consider the narrative possibilities that emerge when works created in different contexts are brought into dialogue.

They also establish connections across time and place and expand the stories a museum can tell.

As the Bechtler continues to expand its collection, its new acquisitions broaden the range of artists and perspectives represented within its holdings.

The art on view in this gallery reflects the changing nature of the museum’s holdings and the conversations that can unfold as it grows.
